Calling all GNOME 2 fans: Meet Fuduntu Linux 2022.1 - connobtionve

It's no underground that changeful-style interfaces so much as Unity, Dwarf 3, and even Windows 8's Modern UI bear met with lonesome a lukewarm reception among many desktop PC users.

That's why we've seen so much a flurry of workarounds spring up for users of Windows 8, and information technology's why we've seen efforts like SolusOS and the MATE desktop emerge connected the Linux side.

Information technology's also wherefore I unofficially crowned the old, traditional favorite—GNOME 2—king of the Linux background  once again for 2012.

I've already looked in some depth at GNOME 2-inclined SolusOS, only on Monday fans of the standard desktop gained a new compelling Linux option: Fuduntu 2022.1, which ready-made its formalised debut now.

A rolling release distro

Fuduntu was born backwards in 2010 as a Fedora-based Linux dispersion. It was double about a year subsequently, however, and today aims to offer a desktop experience "someplace in-between Fedora and Ubuntu," as I noted in a storey last fall.

Even more compelling, Fuduntu uses Dwarf 2 to give up what it calls a "classic desktop receive."

Fuduntu is a rolling release statistical distribution, and it's also optimized for computation on the go; in fact, users may realize bombardment life improvements of 30 percent or more over other Linux distributions, its creators say.

Netflix and Steamer

2013.1 is the Linux statistical distribution's first off period of time release of this New Year, and IT includes some peculiarly notable additions.

On the entertainment incline, both Netflix and Steam are instantly available, for exemplify. Fuduntu also straight off supports Nvidia optimus  technology, and Cairo is enclosed as the new dock for the software program.

Sudo is now enabled for all new installs, and Vino has been upgraded to version 1.5.18, complete with Windows codec improvements, fixes for OLE database support, improvements to system parameters management, improved XML support, and Thomas More.

Also included in Fuduntu 2022.1 are Linux kernel 3.6.9, Gimp 2.8.2, Thunderbird 17, Firefox 17, Atomic number 24 23.0.1271.97, VLC 2.0.5, and X.org 1.12.

Enduring popularity

Is there any finish in sight to GNOME 2's ongoing popularity?

I'm not so dependable. Not only has the GNOME see itself given into the need for a "legacy" mode alternative in the upcoming GNOME 3.8, but Fuduntu lead developer Andrew James Wyatt reportedly plans to maintain GNOME 2 for the distro himself, if necessary.

Meanwhile, you can download Fuduntu Linux 2022.1 yourself for atrip in 32- and 64-chip versions from the Fuduntu site.
